Spa Ingredients at Southall

Clean and Green Ingredients

Our governing philosophy at The Spa at Southall will be to harness the healing power of nature in a sustainable way. Because we are committed to using only farm-fresh ingredients, we have partnered with Naturopathica to source any product we don’t grow and harvest ourselves. Naturopathica is our chosen partner because they select skin-nourishing botanicals, such as seed oils and oats, and infuse them with proven dermatological actives, like plant stem cells and glycolic acid, for visible results. Their products feature only clean, sustainable ingredients, from antioxidant rich White Peony to anti-inflammatory Calendula, all of which are derived from renewable resources and manufactured with environmentally friendly processes.

Giving You What You Need

Because The Spa at Southall will personalize each guest experience, the topicals and ingestibles we use will be carefully selected. For sore muscles, a Sweet Birch Magnesium soak may be followed by a Mighty Mint foot massage. A guest wanting to boost immunity may choose a therapeutic massage followed by a Lemon Verbena body polish. Whether a single therapy or a combination of treatments, each wellness session will end with a specialty tea and tincture that are sustainably sourced and specifically chosen to complement a guest’s established health goals. Our Vitality Tea incorporates Echinacea, Elderflower, Spearmint and Peppermint to help support the immune system and stimulate tired minds. A drop of Milk Thistle Cleansing Tincture might then give an extra boost to the digestive system and liver. The result is a relaxation that saturates body, mind and soul in a uniquely restorative way.

Ingredients Harvested On Site

When possible, we will incorporate ingredients harvested on site to use alongside the Naturopathica products we have chosen for the spa. Honey is an excellent example. Our bees are hard at work creating a golden nectar that enhances more than just the dishes on our table. Guests of the spa can opt for a body wrap in Indian Sarsaparilla, clay and fresh honey from our hives on the hill. Indian Sarsaparilla has powerful antioxidant properties, while its root contains phyto-chemicals that boost digestive secretions. Able to reduce inflammation and improve sleep, the herb is especially powerful when combined with honey, which has its own antibacterial, cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties. Rich in vitamins and proteins, honey is responsible not only for increasing longevity for the queen bee, but also for generating renewal and radiance in aging skin.

Farm-to-Spa Connection

Our passion for fresh ingredients goes beyond simply using them in our treatments. We want to teach guests about the healing properties of botanicals and share tips for how to grow and use them. To empower guests in this way and to reinforce the vital farm-to-spa connection, we will offer Holistic Healing tours of our various gardens. Guests of the spa who enjoyed a facial using Carrot Seed oil or a scrub using Pumpkin enzymes will be able to visit the vegetables in the garden and learn why and how their essences are so skin-enhancing. Those who relaxed in a Lavender Blossom soak or sipped Stress Tea, made of Lavender, Chamomile and soothing Linden infused with Oatstraw, Holy Basil and Schisandra can visit the herb gardens to learn how to grow some of these ingredients on their own.

Ultimately, our choices around the ingredients we use (and don’t use) will echo our greater commitment to—and reverence for—the earth. They will also reflect our fundamental beliefs that… When mindfully harvested and selected, the fruits of the earth can have transformative impact. When given the proper therapies and products, our own systems of self-repair can be activated. And when educated on how these healing therapies work, we can become active agents in our own wellbeing.
